The ENDS Report
Gareth is a senior writer on the leading environmental business and policy journal The ENDS Report. He writes on air pollution, industrial regulation, products and chemicals.
After some time in environmental consultancy, he joined ENDS in 2005, initially helping to develop the ENDS Compliance Manager database of environmental law and legislation. In 2008 he moved to the ENDS Report, at that time covering industrial regulation, shale gas and politics. A move to ENDS Europe followed in 2012 and from 2013 Gareth led the development of ENDS Waste & Bioenergy, which covers Europe’s energy-from-waste, biomass and biogas industries. He rejoined The ENDS Report in the summer of 2015.
The Medium Combustion Plant Directive
The Medium Combustion Plant Directive fills a hole in European emissions regulation, bridging the gap between the small scale (such as domestic gas boilers) and major industrial installations. Finalised in late 2015, it will place wide-ranging obligations on thousands of plants such as industrial boilers and gas compressors. It both clashes and overlaps with existing UK law, making its implementation a challenge.
