As the Manager of the Asbestos Testing and Consultancy Association (ATaC), Stephen Platkiw is a member of the Asbestos Liaison Group (ALG) and also sits on the Asbestos in Schools Group, Joint Union Asbestos Committee, and the UKAS Technical and Advisory Committee.
Steve started his career as an analytical chemist and has since spent 30 years in the asbestos industry. As a certified competent person in asbestos Steve was a director of an asbestos analytical and surveying company, before joining the Asbestos Removal Contractors Association in 2007 and becoming ATaC Manager in 2012.
Legal duties of premises owners/managers on managing the risks from asbestos.
Managing the risk from asbestos in commercial premises is the responsibility of the duty holder, such as property owners, property managers, facilities managers and health & safety managers.
This presentation will review their legal duties and responsibilities for managing asbestos in buildings as defined in Regulation 4 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. It will also cover the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 which places explicit responsibilities on clients.
